What colored furniture would go good with the ugly brown carpet you see in apartments and cheap duplexes?
My boyfriend and I are finally moving into our first place on our own. It’s a great little duplex, and the only thing I don’t like about it is the ugly brown carpet that all of the cheap apartments and duplexes have. The dark brown. The walls and everything are painted white.

What colored furniture should we start looking for? I want it to look CLEAN, but it seems like it’s going to be hard with such dirty, ugly carpet…
Go for an aqua blue color with white and tan accents. Use light colored wood like teak; no darker than oak.

Cheap black naugahyde. Why break up the decor?
Can’t you get the carpet changed? I would think if it’s dirty that it would be a health code violation.
I live in a rental and the landlord changed the carpet right after we moved in because the old one was filthy.
I ended up with cheap multi blue and grey.

It’s most helpful to offset ugly colors by drawing attention to other aspects of your decor. The first suggestion I have is to invest in some area rugs that won’t clash with your brown carpet, but that draw attention away from it.
However, if you’re just focusing on furniture, I’d suggest finding items that draw attention away from your carpet and onto the furniture. This might be bright colors or patterns. It doesn’t mean creams or tans (those will blend with the carpet). You might check out this blog for a few ideas: http://www.spaceinc.net/blog/
Good luck! I’m sure your apartment will look great with some TLC.

You could get beige couches, they have some nice one in ikea for $150 each, you should get two love couches so that it could give it a cleaner look. Or you could go with the tiffany colors. baby blue white and brown. There is also some couches that have brown and white and then you could get the baby blue courtains or pictures/accessories to put on the wall
