How do I clean furniture with veneer ?
I used Pledge to clean a piece of furniture that has veneer. It looks good after I clean it put if I place something on it afterwards it leaves a mark. It goes away if I clean it with pledge again but I wanted to know if there is a different type of Furniture cleaner made especially for veneer?

Pledge just builds up and builds up so that you keep having to use more to get the shine that you want.
Start with Murphy’s Oil Soap which works by removing the accumulated gunk and gets the shine back to the varnished veneer finish. (It’s available in any supermarket and is relatively inexpensive.)
I buy Lemon Oil from the Dollar Store and put some on a well-wrung out soft cotton cloth. I apply this to the wooden surface and rub. The smell is glorious and the results are worth the small effort. (i have used Lemon Oil on parquet flooring, too.)
I have a British friend who swears by bees’ wax for her wooden furniture. This is harder to come by and much more expensive than the Lemon Oil. However, it comes in different fragrances (like Lavendar) and smells heavenly. Judith

There’s really no difference between furniture that has veneer, versus solid wood. Afterall, veneer is still wood, oak, mahogany, walnut, etc. You can use any type of treatment recommended for wooden furniture…
