I do think that I take pretty decent photos and have a great passion for photography but don’t really know how to begin. What kind of fairly inexpensive camera is a good start? I do have a Sony Digital Camera and a Canon SLR 35mm. Also, what other kind of equipment is imperative when beginning-just to look like you know what your doing?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
One more thing before I forget, what is needed to take great photos of food/wine? Is there a special kind of setup that I would need?

You may not like this answer but it is intended to be honest and helpful. Don’t start any business, not even a small one, until you are sure of what you are doing. Apart from the risk to your reputation through failing to deliver you may be liable to losses. Don’t buy more kit until you are a little closer to knowing what you want to photograph – make the most of what you have by learning to use it to it’s best. Equipment can cost a lot, especially when more specialised – much food photography for example needs larger format than 35mm or high end digital to get published and lighting is essential and expensive.

Look at as many good quality published or exhibited pictures of your subject as you can. Visit exhibitions showing your subject and if possible get to know other photographers – perhaps through a club – that can help build your technical skills.

As your skills grow you will stretch your equipment until the day comes when you will either know or have a good idea of what extra kit you need.

When your skills and knowledge develop you will be in a much more ablle position to take on jobs which, at the beginning, you might do for free but without risk of liability, until your confidence grows. Then think about the business side of things.

It’s sooo cute. The others will eventually come and run across my head while I’m sleeping or wake me up in the morning, but my youngest definitely has them beat in this category with his antics.
What cute or annoying things do your Pets do when you are in the bed?

My 2 cats each sleep on either side of me in bed. The dogs would like to also but the cats won’t let them.

My cat George is very dysfunctional since he was taken from his mom at 4 weeks. (He’s now 7 years old). He kneads bread on me and puts his head on my shoulder and in the morning, gently taps my face until I wake up to give him his breakfast. He’s better than any alarm clock I’ve had. Trouble is, he wants his breakfast at 5AM!!

I totally agree with George G’s assessment. People now want 40 year mortgages, nothing down, and even interest only for a few years.

My Home has been paid off for many years, I took on a 15 year mortgage with high interest rates and paid it off in 9 years. How? Because I could COMFORTABLY afford the house.

Which is more just for a child?

Depends on the perspective. The "socialized" (please use in quotation marks) perspective is that users of health care are the community as a whole; thus, ‘just’ is defined as minimizing the losing individuals. "Free market’s" views are that the users are individuals or groups of individuals; thus, ‘just’ is defined as maximizing the number of individuals ’satisfied.’

From both common political and ethical perspective, a child is often unable to contribute to the discussion of ‘individuals to be lost’ in "socialized health care" or ‘user satisfaction’ in the "free market." Given the assumptions that pediatric care is satisfactory for most children, "socialized health care" is more just because the intrinsic cost-of-life-saved would then be higher even though some children would fall through the cracks. HOWEVER, given the assumption above and also that the income difference between the richest and poorest people is minimal, the "free market" is more just because parents can decide what is most ’satisfactory’ without too much undue financial burden.

If you are serious about doing this I would advise taking a college course – either a bachelors degree or an associates degree in horticulture. As a professional horticulturist I have to admit that my co-workers and I tend to see Master Gardener programs & such as more for amateurs – whether this is valid of not is very debatable, however, if you are loooking to for a career in horticulture then it is something to consider.

One way to see what you really like & to get to talk to more professionals is to do something like volunteering at a botanical garden or some other gardening type of institution.
One word of warning: having changed Careers myself from an office job career to horticulture, horticulture or gardening is pretty hard work – working outside in all condtions etc. It also tends to be pretty low paid and can often just be seasonal, depending on where you live, It sounds like an ideal, fun, relaxing career, but, much as I love my job, I sometimes wonder if it would not have been best to leave it as a hobby.

I am not trying to discourage you in any way, I just would like to give you a balanced view of the career.

Moisture and Fluffing!

Use a steam iron (don’t touch the iron to the rug, it may melt, just get the steam in there) or a mister/ sprayer.

Vacuum to pull the fibers back upright.

Use the edge of a kitchen spoon to rub the fibers back and forth – switching directions as you go.

Mist, Rub, Vacuum, Mist, Vacuum, Rub — any order.
