What do your pets do when you get in the bed?

Posted by admin | 09/03/10 | Tagged Pets

I have 3 cats and the youngest always comes running from wherever he is at in the house when he hears me turn on the fan and jumps right in the bed with me. It’s sooo cute. The others will eventually come and run across my head while I’m sleeping or wake me up in the morning, but my youngest definitely has them beat in this category with his antics.
What cute or annoying things do your Pets do when you are in the bed?

My 2 cats each sleep on either side of me in bed. The dogs would like to also but the cats won’t let them.

My cat George is very dysfunctional since he was taken from his mom at 4 weeks. (He’s now 7 years old). He kneads bread on me and puts his head on my shoulder and in the morning, gently taps my face until I wake up to give him his breakfast. He’s better than any alarm clock I’ve had. Trouble is, he wants his breakfast at 5AM!!

Insurance for Vip Pets

Posted by admin | 08/03/10 | Tagged Pets

When most people think a pet is spoiled feel that it is getting to many treats, has too many expensive toys scattered around the ground, or it’s allowed to sleep at night in bed with its humans, normally taking up the entire bed and hogging all the covers. I once even saw a pot bellied pig who was so spoiled that its humans designed an built the miniature porker its very own out house so it wouldn’t get cold answering natures call.

Japanese pet owners take the term very-important-pets to a whole new level. In Japan well loved pets enjoy aromatherapy, acupuncture, trips to the doggie spa where they a lovingly massaged, and in some cases have their very own personal trainers.

It is a well known fact that we tend to spoil our pets because we love them we want them to have the best of everything but recent studies have shown that pampering our pets might actually doing as much harm as good. One recent study from an undisclosed source claims that we are actually making our beloved pets stupid by spoiling them. We are in such a hurry to make their lives easier that we take away their need to problem solve on their own. The less they have to loose their brains the less they can do on their own. This problem is especially common in households were the dog seems to be running the show. What would happen to that pet if it really had to think for itself?

A concern veterinarians have regarding spoiled pets is weight. The more spoiled the pet the more obese it seems to become. The obesity can lead to later health issues that can actually decrease the life of the pet. Weight can affect the skeletal system until hip problems start to develop, obesity can cause respiratory and cardiac problems, the extra pounds of blubber constantly pushing on the joints can start to create stiffness and discomfort.

It is not uncommon for veterinarians to see a lot of the spoiled pet as it enters into the last few years of its life. The problem with older overweight pets is that every time they are brought to the vet clinic they are exposed to more germs, bacteria, and viruses that can lead to still more endless trips to the vet.

For the most part the humans caring for the very-important-pet don’t have to worry about the increasing number of the visits to see a doctor. Most doting parents bought pet health care insurance during the early years of the pet’s life. All of the pet’s health care needs are essentially bought and paid for.      I wouldn’t be the least bit surprised if in a few years you didn’t see pet health insurance companies raising the rates of their VIP customers. On solution to the pudgy, somewhat shallow house pet is the appearance of specialist animal slimming clinics. Pet owners can go to these clinics and learn all about their pets nutritional needs and exercise programs that will help the spoiled child start to shed some of those unnecessary pounds.

Just an FYI, I like animals. I think they should be treated fairly, although maybe not to the extent PETA would like. But I do not condone animal cruelty. On that same note, first world countries treat animals like royalty at times. There are plenty of pet owners who treat Pets like they are their own children and would spend easily 50+ bucks just so they’re dog could get a pampered bath and groom. Meanwhile, a starving third world child may struggles to get even a few cents worth of food with any nutritional value.

Yes, my dog is more important to me than any kids in the third world, and that is true for deveral very good reasons.

First of all those companies that advertise on TV pay their CEO’s 300K a year. Only about 1/4 of the money you send ever reaches that country. After it gets there it lines the pockets of the rich. Only a few pennies of that $50 will buy anything for the child.

Secondly, when you give money, you only make the situation worse. You take away their reason to work for themselves. I have seen that in the USA many times. My friends that grew up with everything can hardly function as adults. I had barely food to eat when I grew up. I managed to work my way through college on my own.

Thirdly, the government’s of those countries are making a fortune off people, like you, sending money. They have a vested interest in keeping the children poor so that they can keep photographing them and suckering you into sending money. Keep in mind that for some of those countries their biggest export is photographs of starving children. The government officials have palaces and drive expensive cars thanks to people like yourself.

A Look at Snowbirds and Their Pets

Posted by admin | 05/03/10 | Tagged Pets

Long before winter’s blustery chill begins to sting the bones, plans are being made by people in Canada, the Northeast and Midwestern United States to seek the warmer climes of the south. It’s an interesting phenomenon that occurs each year and mimics the migration ritual of our feathered friends.

These “snowbirds” (as they are affectionately called) flock to Arizona, Florida and other places along the Sunbelt to avoid winter’s bite and inconvenience. Northern Europeans also are known to head to warmer places in the U.S., adding to these second communities of seasonal residents each year.

Snowbirds are typically retirees or business owners who can afford to be away for extended periods of time. Many have a second home in a warmer location, while others take their home on wheels with them in the form of an RV or camper.

Jack and Ethel W. have been making the trip for 18 years. Pulling out of their snow-banked driveway in upstate Ohio, their 28-foot Fleetwood Southwind RV is loaded with rations, lighter clothes than they would have needed had they stayed home, and Phantom, their four-legged, eight-year-old. That’s right, more and more people travel with their pets these days and snowbirds are no exception. The couple wouldn’t dream of leaving behind their special member of the family, a Lhasa Apso. He’s like one of their children. They’ll stay gone five or six weeks in southern Georgia, while taking several side trips to explore new places.

Rick S. pulls his 38-foot Prowler fifth wheel from Connecticut to Florida each year. His only passengers are Harley and Davidson, two 80-pound German shepherds who earn their keep by sharing “navigator” duties as Rick mans all the driving. He heads south in early November, not to return until mid-April. He enjoys the warmer weather fishing with his pals at his modest lake house until the last signs of the northern winter dissipate.

Traveling with pets long distances and for long periods of time presents challenges not only for snowbirds but also for the pets they take along. According to Dr. Mitch Spindell, site vet on PetTravelCenter.com, the first thing one should always consider is how physically able a pet is to travel. Some senior, pregnant, injured, or otherwise physically impaired pets do not travel well. Besides making sure your pet is physically fit and comfortable to make the trip, here are some tips to consider:

1. If your pet has any chronic conditions, take all pertinent medical records. It’s a good idea to have your pet’s records with you any time you travel long distances.

In another week or less on January 11, 2010 the release of a great new product for all of us internet marketers looking to break out into financial success and that product is Niche Blueprint. Now if you are just starting out in the internet marketing arena, I suggest taking a few baby steps and that means starting out with the Mining Money Online program that is taylored just for newbies in the affiliate marketing business and it comes at a price that every one can afford of $77

2. If your pet is on any long-term medications, be sure to have plenty to last your entire stay.

3. If you are driving north or south of the U.S. border, be sure to check all local regulations and have your pet’s current health certificates with you.

4. Establish a local vet in the area as soon as possible in case of emergency. Go to PetTravelCenter.com and click on Emergency Tips for more information.

5.Ask a local vet about any diseases or parasites that may be present in that part of the country (Lyme disease in New England or year-round fleas in Florida, for instance). Your pet may not be protected against these if they are not present where you live.

Just as your passengers’ safety is vitally important when you travel, don’t forget about your pet’s safety as well. As unrestrained 25-pound dog, for example, becomes a 1,000-pound projectile in a 40 mile-per-hour crash. This type of mass flying uncontrollably around a vehicle could be deadly not only to your pet but also to you and your passengers.

Look out for your precious cargo by providing your pet with a car seat equipped with a restraining device (for smaller Pets) or a vehicle pet harness that is secured with a seat belt. Cats should be kept in a carrier suitable for traveling, also secured with a seat belt.

A travel tag on a pet’s collar will help someone locate you locally should you and your pet become separated. The travel tag should contain information about where you are staying (while away from home), including addresses and phone numbers. A cell phone number is also a good idea to have on the tag since most people have one with them, especially when they travel.

Another item to consider is a pet first-aid kit. It’s important that you are not only familiar with the items you pack in the kit but know how to use them.

So, as Anne Murray sings in the popular song, “Snowbird”:

“Spread your tiny wings and fly away

And take the snow back with you

Where it came from on that day

So, little snowbird, take me with you when you go

To that land of gentle breezes where the peaceful waters flow…”

Happy travels!

Entertaining, informative and otherwise members of R&S, if you have pets what are they? Furthermore, what are your spiritual thoughts and feelings about your own pets and does that fall in line with the doctrine of your religion if any exist. Or, if you’re not adhering to any religion, how do your thoughts and feelings (spiritually) about your Pets compare your spiritual thoughts and feelings of humans?

I have a fish. He never shows affection although I feed him every single day. I clean the tank when ever needed and still: ZERO EMOTION. I don’t think, he knows anything about Spirituality. I gave up !

How to Prepare Your Pets for Immigration

Posted by admin | 02/03/10 | Tagged Pets

It’s a known fact that animals have the amazing ability to calm their owners and promote positive emotions. So, besides the fact that if they’re left behind, they most probably will suffer from separation anxiety, if you migrate with your pets, they’ll most likely help you ease into your new home and country.

If you want to migrate with your Pets – this is what you need to know!!

Restrictions

There are a few restrictions in regards to pet immigration in various countries. Pet Immigration is not a very simple process but it is very possible. For example, if you’ve decided to migrate to New Zealand  consider that this country only accepts cats and dogs. Unfortunately, no other kinds of pets can gain access to New Zealand. So, if you have a parrot or pet rabbit called bunny, you’ll have to find a loving home for it in your homeland, and bid them farewell. Also, consider the following. Animals are required to come through Auckland International Airport. Most animals are subject to quarantine. This depends on which country they are from. Your pet will typically spend at least 6 months in their departure country and will require full vaccinations. Rest assured a subcutaneous chip comes standard.

Pet Lab Tests

In most instances, pets will also require a rabies lab test at least three weeks after vaccination. Vaccinations for your pets include the following: For dogs (Rabies (Except UK and Australia), Distemper, Hepatitis, Adenovirus 2, Parainfluenza, Bordatella , Leptospirosis , Parvovirus. For cats; (Rabies (Except UK and Australia), Panleukopnia, Rhinotrachetis, Calicivirus. If you need more information regarding the rules and regulation of pets, visit the Ministry for Agriculture and Forestry. The lab test result identifies the animal by its identity chip number. This chip must be at least 6 months old before the animal will be eligible for importation. Be sure to handle this in advance. If you fail to do so, you may be without your pet for several months.

A Permit to Import may be required.

Exceptions

This does not apply to animals migrating from Australia and the UK. Your pet may also have to undergo a period of quarantine. There’s no way of telling what the specific set period will be. So, keep this in mind. In fact, your pet could be kept in quarantine for up to a month or longer. Take into consideration that shipping pets is a very expensive exercise and could currently cost you over $1000 NZ Dollars!

Contact a quarantine facility

If it’s not necessary for your pet or pets to be quarantined before applying for a permit to import, you must contact a quarantine facility in New Zealand to reserve a space for your pet/pets. When you book a space the quarantine facility will send you a letter of confirmation. This letter must be included with your permit application.

Prepare your pet

You’ll need to ensure that your loved one is prepared well. All animal products, this includes pet food and poultry feather meal products require Import Health Standards. If your pet requires medication, you may be able to import the medicine. You’ll need approval from Agricultural Compounds and Veterinary Medicines Group. You’ll require The Import Health Standards (IHS) documents. These are documents that detail the import conditions for live animals and animal products into New Zealand. These documents define the conditions that must (if an import is made), be met in the country of origin or of export. This applies to the period during the transit of importation and quarantine. What’s more, the ISH will be able to tell you whether you’ll need a permit to Import or Post Entry quarantine.

Factors to consider

These factors are important as to they’ll ensure that your pet arrives safely and is well cared for. If you intend to import your cat or dog, be sure to check the requirements in the personal travel section. Note that cats and dogs coming from Australia, United Kingdom, Sweden, Norway, Hawaii and Singapore are not required to undergo a period of quarantine, but they do require certification. These pets will however be inspected for ticks on arrival.

Pets Immigrating to Canada

If you immigrate to Canada, you’ll need to have medical documents showing that your pet is healthy. You’ll also be required to follow certain procedures while crossing the border. Take into account that all documents for your pets are required to be documented in English or French.

Canadian Requirements

If you’re importing puppy pets under 3 months old, you don’t require documents for them. Although, for all cats and dogs older than 3 months, you’ll have to prove, via medical certificates for example, that they don’t have rabies. Thankfully, if you’re coming from a country recognised as rabies-free, you’re required to secure a document from a veterinarian who works for a government veterinary service in your home country. The vet will then have to state that there have been no cases of rabies in your country for at least 6 months. The vet will also be required to state that your cat or dog have been in the country throughout this time.

Consider the following

Currently, the following countries are recognised by the government of Canada as rabies-free. These countries are: Antigua, Australia, Bahamas, Barbados, Bermuda, Cayman Islands, Fiji, Finland, Iceland, Ireland (Republic of), Jamaica, Japan, New Zealand, Norway, St. Kitts-Nevis-Anguilla , St. Lucia , St. Martin (Netherlands Antilles), St. Pierre et Miquelon Islands , St. Vincent , Sweden , Taiwan, Turks and Caicos Islands , United Kingdom (England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland) and Uruguay.

Pets Immigrating to Australia

In regards to pet registration, you should contact the National Pet Register (NPR) which is a wide free pet ID service. The NPR operates throughout Australia for 24 hrs a day through the year. There’s simply no excuse not to register your pet! A valid passport will come in handy too!

By the looks of it, it’ll do you and your pet good to research about your future countries animal import policies. Be sure to check the rules of the carrier that you plan to use to transport your pet. At the end of the day, all the trouble’s well worth it when you hold your pet in your arms, in your new country.

What if the stranger was a very responsible 15 1/2 year old girl who gets good grades, is respectful, overall a good kid and charged around $7/day for pet-sitting? And I wouldn’t actually STAY in your house to take care of Pets, I would drive to your house every few hours to care for pets, water plants and get mail? What if the pet-sitter planned a visit with you first to get to know you and your pet and got care instructions from you?? Would you hire this person?

maybeee but one time a friend let someone take care of their dog and the person who took care of the dog ended up liking it so much they never got their dog back i dont really no the hole story but you should cover liek what they should eat and how much exercise the dog should get and stuff liek that

I am trying to prepare for the eventual deaths of my pet cats who are both getting up there in age. The problem is, I have heard in California they are very strict about what you do with your Pets.

I don’t like the idea of cremation or having them buried with a bunch of other dead animals in some mass burial. To complicate matters I live in an apartment complex and I don’t know anyone that has property to bury my pet. I just have no idea what to do. I am looking for some unique alternatives.

We have had two of our kitties cremated and their remains were put in nice Rosewood urns which are memorialized on a shelf with their pictures. This will also happen to the last two we have when their time comes, since they have lived 17 yrs and 18 yrs before passing we wanted to keep them with us with specific scattering instructions up on our passing we will also be cremated and if we out live the last two all of the ashes feline and human will be scatterd together. But for now they are always with us.The cost of cremation for both here in Sacramento was less than $300.00 including urn and a single cremation.Peace

Spray Your Way To Better Health For Your Pets!

Posted by admin | 27/02/10 | Tagged Pets

Many of us take a variety of supplements to ensure that we get the recommended daily allowance of vitamins, minerals and nutrients. Some of us also take supplements for specialized health issues like joint health, heart health or for whatever ails us! We want to feel healthy, energized, limber and young so we can enjoy a long, active life.

How about your pet? Do you think that every day they are getting all of the vitamins, minerals and nutrients from their diet? Most veterinarians would probably surprise you with a simple answer of “No”. Your pets are much like you: sometimes you eat a balanced diet, sometimes you are more physically active than others, and sometimes you feel a bit sluggish and without energy.

Furthermore, you are bombarded by and exposed to multiple toxins in your work and home environment that affect your ability to absorb nutrients and impact your health. Your pets live in that same environment, with the same affect on their health. So, what do you do to counter the negative effects of these noxious toxins? You take your daily vitamins, minerals, drink lots of water and take the necessary supplements to support your health and well-being. Your pet deserves that same attention!

One of the easiest solutions to getting the right supplements to your pets is to introduce VitaMist Pet Spray Vitamins into their every day routine! Spray vitamins are easy to give to your pet, they are quickly absorbed and not a single drop of liquid or part of a pill is wasted! In fact, we know from studies with humans that parts of a pill supplement are passed through the human body without fully breaking down and releasing that supplement into our system! Furthermore, how fun is it to give an animal a pill??!! While it can provide endless entertainment for us to hide it in their food, or conceal it in a treat they love or slather it in peanut butter, that poor pet may not get the full benefit from the pill supplement as it passes without fully dissolving through their system.

How simple are spray vitamins for your pet?

* You can simply spray the VitaMist Pet Spray Vitamins directly into your pet’s mouth, and your pet has an immediate release of the necessary vitamins and nutrients that will be be readily absorbed! Your pets will even love the flavors! For example, VitaCanine is liver-flavored! Well, candidly, that may not be my favorite flavor in the world, but your dog will truly savor it!

* Better yet, you do not even have to spray it in their mouth; you can simply spray it on their food. Your pet still gets all of the benefits as if it were sprayed in their mouth! Does it get any easier to ensure your pet’s happiness, health and longevity?!

Here the amazing benefits for each VitaMist Pet Spray Vitamin:

VitaCanine: Energy-producing B vitamins, A and E vitamins, calcium, phosphorous and iodine are just some of the SIXTEEN total vitamins and minerals in VitaMist VitaCanine!

DogEase: This is a multivitamin with glucosamine sulfate and chondroitin sulfate, two well known supplements for enhancing bone and joint health. This is perfect for older dogs, but is a great routine to start immediately for your puppies!

VitaFeline: A special multivitamin for the kittens and cats in your life with SIXTEEN essential nutrients including vitamin B, vitamin A, phosphorus, iodine and taurine.

With such great products, and how very easy it is to provide your pets with the vitamins and supplements they need for their health and well-being, Vitamist makes it easy and convenient for you to invest in your pets’ health! Please remember, it is always best to consult your vet before introducing any vitamin or supplement to your pet’s routine.
