Green web Hosting are hosting providers that are powered by renewable energy such as wind and solar power. I am looking for the one with the best balance of service and world-saving initiatives. Thanks!

There’s several — the top of the lot are Thinkhost and Hostpapa. Both have great affordable plans, and both fund environmental initiatives like tree-planting, awareness campaigns etc.

How Reliable is Cheap Web Hosting?

Posted by admin | 08/03/10 | Tagged Hosting

This may be a trick question to some, because often times we see quality pay services advertising “cheap rates.”  It mainly depends on what you consider cheap.  Of course, the least expensive option when it comes to web hosting is that of free web hosting.  There are a few companies that may offer “cheap” rates, perhaps a dollar per month, or something to that effect.  (A dollar a month plan would probably translate to a $12 per year payment)

The first thing to consider is just how cheap this type of web hosting service really is and what it offers.  Some websites may offer almost free services but charge for a domain name.  The first step in researching a new web hosting opportunity is to read between the lines and find out what services are actually provided.  The second consideration is how many pros and cons you get with free or cheap service.

The most obvious disadvantage of using a free service is the advertising.  However, even if you opt for a cheap but pay-based web hosting company, you still have to be aware of some possible obstacles.  The most troublesome feature of cheap web hosting companies is usually that of uptime.  The best and most expensive web hosting companies guarantee about 99% uptime for all of their sites.  Cheap web hosting companies are more likely to send monthly notices of shutdown time or perhaps no notice at all when a “dark” period occurs and your site is mysteriously shut down.  Another trend to watch out for is smaller web hosting companies going out of business.  The nation’s economy has wreaked havoc on some small to medium sized Internet businesses, so don’t be surprised to learn that cheap companies you do business with cannot afford to stay in Business past the one year mark.

Other issues to keep in mind include bandwidth (which refers to how much traffic you can accommodate) as well as special features in programming like MySQL, PostgreSQL, blog and chat features and streaming media capability.  What services does this cheap web host provide in terms of security?

The more freedom you want over your site content and site administration, the more you should be willing to pay for higher quality services.  However, if your needs are limited and your business can recover from unexpected but infrequent website downtimes, then you may be able to benefit from the savings a cheap web host offers.

Are you looking for a web hosting service provider for your Internet business? If you are, perhaps you may find this article useful. You see, many inexperienced Internet business owners make mistakes when it comes to choosing a reliable web hosting service provider. Those mistakes usually stem from making buying decisions based purely on price alone. Here is how the scenarios usually play out.

Cheap hosting prices.

Web hosting providers usually use cheap hosting prices as a bait to lure new customers to sign up with them. The prices are so cheap that one would think why they are even offering their hosting services. It’s almost like a miracle business – nobody knows how they make money. Obviously, something is not quite right. Still, many sign up because they cannot resist the temptation.

To make things worse, some web hosting providers even offer unlimited everything! You get unlimited domain hosting, unlimited web space, unlimited bandwidth, unlimited databases, and so on and so forth. And if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. It is not viable to provide features that are unlimited. Here’s why.

What happens is that when hosting providers do that, customers start to abuse the servers by loading hundreds of websites on the servers. They have every right to do so. After all, the hosting providers did promise them unlimited everything. Over time, the server starts to overload. It slows to a crawl at first, and eventually hangs. The server will have to be rebooted regularly, leading to downtime. Eventually, even rebooting doesn’t help. As soon as the server goes online, it gets bombarded with boatloads of traffic going to the hundreds of sites that the server is hosting, and the server goes down almost as soon as it goes up.

As an Internet business owner, you can’t afford to have that happening to you. Your sites are like your cash registers. If they go offline, you can’t make any sales, and you certainly can’t collect any money. So beware of web Hosting companies that offer unbelievably cheap prices with unlimited features.

Cheap and reliable hosting.

What you need is actually reasonably cheap and reliable hosting services. Reliability is of utmost importance in the web hosting industry. If your website constantly goes down, it’s very difficult to make a living online. Often, you hear horror stories of websites going down for days in a roll with no response from the hosting provider. That means loss of income for any Internet business owners.

To avoid undue stress and unnecessary worries, it makes sense to pick a hosting provider that is professional and reliable. You can easily verify if a hosting service is reliable or not by just firing some questions at their support department. The engineers must know what they are doing. Otherwise, it’s better to stay clear.

Make a quick assessment of the hosting packages. Does the offer sound reasonable to you? After all, hosting companies must be profitable too. So the hosting deal must make business sense.

Applying your common sense before signing up, and choose a provider that offers cheap and reliable hosting, and not just cheap prices.

I want to start and internet radio station and a lot of Hosting companies do not host streaming audio. I went to one that did and found that their customer service lacks tact and patience. I have never tried anything like this before and the program I want to use for the streaming audio needs 50 GB bandwidth. I found with my old hosting company has more than enough bandwidth but does not host streaming audio or video. Any suggestions?

Aside from economics, and worldwide attention/recognition – how else does the host country of the Olympics benefit from Hosting the games?

Please include two or more ideas that would be worth researching as part of a paper. Also, what counter claims can I make for economics and worldwide recognition?

Cities who host the Olympic Games must commit to significant investments in sports venues and other infrastructure. It is commonly assumed that the scale of such and event and the scale of the preparation for it will create large and lasting economic benefits to the host city. Economic impact studies confirm these expectations by forecasting economic benefits in the billions of dollars. Unfortunately these studies are filled with misapplications of economic theory that virtually guarantee their projections will be large. Ex-post studies have consistently found no evidence of positive economic impacts from mega-sporting events even remotely approaching the estimates in economic impact studies

Midphase Web Hosting Review

Posted by admin | 27/02/10 | Tagged Hosting

MidPhase is a highly reliable and fairly large web hosting company, based in Chicago. The company first commenced its operations in the year 2003 and is growing at an exponential pace each month. Reports suggest that the company adds over 4000 new hosting accounts each month to its customer base. Many analysts and reviews suggest that the company has set itself in a league of its own in the hosting market and is considered the best in terms of hosting plans, affordability, products and support. This gets validated by the fact that the company has an ever growing customer base. So surely the company must be doing something right in order to achieve a huge figure each month.

MidPhase offers Linux web hosting, shared web hosting, VPS hosting plans, dedicated servers as well as website design services. The company also provides site, domain and database transfer services as well as renew your domain name. Also take note of the fact that AN Hosting is also owned by MidPhase.

Furthermore, the sign up process at MidPhase is fairly quick and simple. It took us less than 5 minutes to open a hosting account with them. In a bid to heighten and enhance their fraud prevention services, the user is required to confirm their order either by phone or fax after which the user’s Hosting account is successfully set up.

The company is commonly referred to as the “best budget hosting company” with an amazing technical and customer support system. Support is offered 24/7 both by toll free phone and email. Customers are highly pleased by their solid 99.9% uptime guarantee as well as a no questions asked 30 day money back guarantee. The company boasts of highly advanced servers that are housed in equally advanced and secure data centres. Customers also get the benefit of cashing in on ad credits worth $50 and $25 from Yahoo and Google respectively.

Other features include 200,000 MB of disk space and 3,000,000 MB of bandwidth on their smaller level plans (@ only $7.95 per month) and 2, 50,000 MB of disk space and unlimited bandwidth on their higher level hosting plans (@ $11.95 per month).

All in all, the company is at par with the best out there in the hosting industry and has managed to climb the rungs consistently enough. The company is here to stay as it continues to offer unparalleled hosting services to its valued customers worldwide.
